The US Geological Survey Office in San Juan Puerto Rico is conducting the WEBB (Water, Energy, and Biogeochemical Budgets) project. It compares the energy, water, and chemical budgets between forested basins in the Luquillo Experimental Forest and agriculturally-developed basins in the Lago Loiza dranage basin. WEBB research in the LEF Rio Icacos basin builds on the stream chemistry research initialted by McDowell there, "Quebrada Sonadora, Quebrada Toronja, and Río Icacos Stream Chemistry Data"
