LUQ Schoolyard 9th Symposium Celebrated in May 15th 2017
LUQ Schoolyard celebrated its 9th Symposium. The mixture of science, culture and creativity made the activity enjoyable and inspirational. Our students and teachers showed their interest and questions related to: drought and its impact in the water quality of water of rivers and dams and about factors that threaten the wild life of certain organisms in New Mexico. These themes were presented by the students using the tools showed to them during the academic year.
See synopsis of the activity by Jorge Ortiz-Zayas, Director of the Department of Environmental Science of the Natural Science Faculty of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus:
Our Luquillo LTER Schoolyard staff , as well as our collaborators, are committed in providing these educational and research events such that the curiosity and willingness to continue learning stays with our young people at a long-term basis.
