Message:

Colleagues, Attached is the program for the January 13 and 14 Luquillo LTER annual meeting.

The major goals of this meeting are twofold. The first major goal is to continue launching LTER 4, our fourth cycle of research since 1988. We will again discuss the whole picture of LTER 4, as well as hear about the progress and plans for the nine hypotheses and associated projects (pages 6-10).

The Canopy Trimming Experiment is our largest manipulation and biggest investment. It will be the subject of posters on Saturday and group discussion on Sunday. Also to discuss in this meeting are education, information management, synthesis activities (page 11), and business matters (pages 19-22).

The second major goal of this meeting is to develop a proposal for the Luquillo LTER role in LTER network-level research. On January 22 we will submit to the Science Task Force of the Planning Grant three research plans in the form of feedback loops that could serve as a basis for intersite research in which Luquillo LTER would participate (see letter and feedback loop model pages 12-18). This will be a big part of the future of Luquillo LTER. In our 2012 proposal for LTER 5 probably most of the hypotheses will be linked to network-level work. So this is about your future work in LTER. Please look over these pages before the meeting. Nick Attachments: Files: 2007_LUQ_LTER_Annual_Meeting_program.pdf (487k)
