This message is written to inform you that I have accepted a position at the USGS headquarters office in Reston, Virginia, and will be leaving Puerto Rico at the end of August. A search for my successor has begun and it is hoped that a selection can be made before the end of 2003. In the interim, the USGS Southeastern Regional Hydrologist, Tim Hale, has asked Hydrologist Pedro Díaz to serve as Acting Caribbean District Chief. He can be reached at: pldiaz@usgs.gov, or at 787-749-4346, ext. 222.
During my tenure as Caribbean District Chief it has been an honor to work with
you in our joint effort to enhance the scientific understanding and management
of the water resources of the island. The USGS Water Resources Division Caribbean
District is now in it's 45th year of serving the people and governments of
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and looks forward to many more productive
years in this endeavor.
thank you,
Matt
