Session H12: The U.S. Contribution to International Hydrology  
Conveners:  Matthew C. Larsen, USGS, James Shuttleworth, University of Arizona
 
Description:  Abstracts should address the issue of the emergence of water as a global issue that requires international cooperation on research and management. Topics include activities of such entities as the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP), the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), the World Meteorological Organization-Hydrology and Water Resources (WMO-HWR), and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) in the priority areas of water research, water resources management, education, and capacity-building. The talks/posters should highlight current activities and work done through these and related programs such as UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, IFI (International Flood Initiative), HELP (Hydrology for the Environment, Life, and Policy), G-WADI (Global Water and Development Information for Arid Lands), WWAP (World Water Assessment Program), Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), and others.
